Why we built Reelic: Curing the saves folder madness
Reelic is a browser extension that turns your Instagram saves into a private, searchable library. Today, after two weeks of building and testing, it is officially in open beta. No signups, no waitlists, and completely free to use.
The recipe I couldn't find
I once saved a quick recipe clip: brown butter, sage, and pasta. On a busy Wednesday evening with ingredients prepped, I went to find it. Instead of a search bar, Instagram presented an endless scrolling grid of every video I had bookmarked over the past year.
I scrolled for minutes, got frustrated, and gave up.
That night, I realized the problem wasn't a missing feature. It was a missing interface. All the save data was already loaded in my browser. It just needed a way to be searched.
What Reelic does
Reelic is a lightweight browser extension that reads your open saves page and indexes it. This gives you a fast search engine, custom stats, and a Wrapped overview. Everything runs 100% on your device, and no data ever leaves your computer.
The extension is designed to stay out of your way. You open Instagram, press a shortcut, find your reel, and get on with your day.
Features in the open beta
We've focused on polished, essential features to help curators get organized:
Insta Wrap: A visual, interactive story of your curation year, showing your total saves, vibes, taste twin, and global rank. Shareable as a PNG.
Global Leaderboard: See where you stand among curators globally. Your ranking stays pinned to the top of the list.
Taste Twin: Reelic compares your library to others to find another curator with matching visual tastes.
Fuzzy Search: Type keywords, handles, or hashtags. The search engine is typo-tolerant and instant.
What open beta means for you
No gatekeeping: There are no waitlists or accounts. Install it, and it works immediately.
No paywalls: The beta is completely free. When we introduce paid features later, anyone who joined the beta will keep their existing features free forever.
We're actively polishing: The UI will evolve based on your feedback. If Instagram changes their saves page layout, we will update the extension quickly to fix any edge cases.
